What a day for the Foxes...

After relegation and immediate promotion last year, Leicester City are riding high in the Championship this season, three points off the leader and placed just outside the play-off positions (it's a very tight league this year!). Last night we had a great victory against a Crystal Palace side who we managed to match when we were in League One, winning 2-0 with Paul Gallagher's (see below) first goals for the club following his signing from Blackburn rovers this summer, but there has been even bigger news develop today!

First, Gareth Southgate was sacked as Middlesborough manager. Now, this is big news in football as Southgate, although taking Middlesborough from the UEFA Cup Final to relegation to the Championship, wasn't doing too bad, only a point off the top of the table, however how does it relate to Leicester City? Well, our amazing, league winning manager, Nigel Pearson, is a Middlesborough hero and a 10/1 favourite to sign up as their next manager. Not good.

Second, reports have emerged that Leicester City are in talks with former Juventus, Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Ajax, Tottenham Hotspur and Holland player, Edgar Davids! Where on earth did this come from? A player with over 70 international caps and a European Cup winners' medal, he would be a coup for any Championship side, even with his old age (for football anyway) of 36. See my rubbish Photoshop re-inactment of him below...

What to make of all this? Well, on Sky Sports News, Milan Mandarich (chairman of Leicester City) has confirmed that: a) Nigel Pearson is NOT leaving Leicester and b) talks are progressing with Davids and will become clear in the next few days! Excellent!

  1. AHHHHHHHHHHHH in davis comes that will do city so much good! Pearson wont leave either, he is too popular and doesn't he have some kind of contract with us anyway?

  2. Would Davids be a negative influence to the dressing room? http://www.football-league.co.uk/championshipblog/matt-hollands-blog-3-20091028_2270536_1839916
