Eyjafjallajoekull is groaning!

Eyjafjallajoekull is the Icelandic volcano which has caused disruption across the whole world.  Its eruption has spread volcanic ash into the atmosphere, spreading across Europe and even to Canada, which isn't really a problem since we can't see it.  However, to planes in the sky it does as any ash which enters their engines will turn to glass under the intense heat, destroying the turbines and putting passengers in danger.  So for the last five days, in the near future, international travellers (including professional European footballers!) are travelling by road and rail, stranding thousands across the world.

Is this a coincidence?  Due to global warming?  Is it, how I heard it described this week, 'the fury of Mother Nature'?  I believe that the Bible tells us the real reason behind this eruption: hardly Mother Nature but our Father God.  Romans 8:18-22 tells us of how all of Creation (that is, everything in existence, created by God) is waiting and groaning in expectation for the glory of God to be revealed.  Creation is waiting for God to sort out the world and, therefore, show His ultimate glory to all (funnily enough, exactly what a lot of people ask for: 'I'd believe in Him if He showed Himself to me') and seems to show this frustration with violent shakes, explosions and precipitation.

The whole earth is filled with God's glory (Isaiah 6:3), yet it is groaning with anticipation for the future glory (in Romans 8) to be revealed.  How amazing will that future glory be!
