Death-trap Lincoln

With the snow now compacted in the ground and refrozen every night, the pavements have now become literal death-traps.  It's not good.  The hospital received over 250 people into the A+E department over five days last week, 50 people per day, on injuries related to the icey pavements!

Using salt on the ice becomes less effective past -8 and ineffective when temperatures hit -15 so the only way around it is to hack away with a hammer or shovel to displace the ice.  Today there is a summer-like temperature of 1 degrees so hopefully some of the ice will disappear but until then WATCH OUT!
