Film review: The Twilight Saga: New Moon

All the hype and excitement of teenage girls finally came to a climax last weekend as New Moon (2009) was released in cinemas and I had a bit of a house evening out to see it on opening night (to read Mike, my housemate's review, click here). It is the second of four films in the Twilight Saga, a sequel to Twlight (2008), and stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, who reprise their roles. Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass (2007)) directs and Melissa Rosenberg again screen writes the film, based on the novel series by Stephanie Meyer.

It tells the continuing story of Bella and Edward's (the vampire) unusual relationship as Edward decides to leave forever in an attempt to protect Bella. As she mourns, she comes closer and closer to previous friend, Jacob (a werewolf), and find out some amazing secrets about Jacob's life. It takes us to Italy and back, through fights between vampires and werewolves, and between vampires themselves.
